Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is parent coaching the same as therapy?

No. Parent coaching focuses on helping parents set and achieve specific goals related to their family life, parenting skills, and personal growth. It is a collaborative process. You share information about your family dynamic and your preferred future, and I provide a listening ear, sharing my expertise and years of experience related to child development, education, and working with parents.

Therapy, on the other hand, is geared towards addressing emotional and psychological issues, including mental health concerns and past experiences.

2. What topics do you address in parent coaching?

As a parent coach, I offer tailored strategies that address your unique family and goals. Topics can range from: setting boundaries, social and emotional wellbeing, separation anxiety, parental guilt, building confidence, managing routines, self-care, bedtime battles, teenage turbulence, fostering connections, focus and concentration, sibling rivalry, defiance, dealing with technology and screen time, eating habits, evaluating a child’s developmental and academic needs, and navigating the uncertainties of parenting college age kids.

3. Who benefits from parent coaching?

Any parent looking to deepen their connection and cultivate a meaningful relationship with their child. Any parent who finds themselves asking:

  • Am I being too strict or too lenient in setting boundaries for my child?

  • How do I effectively communicate with my child, especially during challenging moments?

  • Am I spending enough time with my child amidst my busy schedule?

  • Am I fostering a supportive and open environment for my child to express their thoughts and feelings?

  • What can I do to help my child build resilience and cope with setbacks?

  • How can I balance being a nurturing parent while also encouraging independence in my child?

  • Am I providing age-appropriate guidance and expectations for my child?

  • What strategies can I use to manage my own stress and emotions, and how do they  impact my parenting?

  • How can I promote a healthy balance between screen time and other activities for my child?

  • What are the best ways to handle sibling conflicts and promote positive sibling relationships?

  • Am I fostering a positive attitude toward learning and curiosity in my child?

  • How can I encourage a sense of responsibility and accountability in my child?

  • Am I doing a good job modeling the values and behaviors I want to instill in my child?

  • How do I handle feeling overwhelmed or uncertain in my parenting?

4. Do you coach grandparents?

Absolutely! Grandparents are parents too, and I deeply respect and value their vital role within the family. Through coaching, my goal is to fortify the connections that unify generations. This encompasses nurturing the relationships between grandparents and their children, as well as fostering strong bonds with their grandchildren.
